The diffuse-type histologic variant of gastric cancer is characterized by highly invasive
growth patterns and lack of cellular cohesion. Two recent studies have identified highly
recurrent mutations of the gene encoding the small GTPase RhoA and suggest that RhoA
activity may have a tumor suppressive role in this disease.
